The past two days have been incredibly eventful. On Monday, we celebrated the five-year anniversary of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X with a competition to decide the top exclusive title of this console generation. You were given eight PS5 games and eight Xbox Series X exclusives to compete against each other, all heading towards a final showdown where the leading contender from each console would go head-to-head. We've witnessed some incredibly close calls in the initial matchups, particularly the extremely tight polls from the previous day. At this point, it's moment to decide the best PS5 and Xbox Series X games before Thursday’s final battle.

PlayStation 5 Contenders

On the PS5 side, we have the giant-slayer, Astro Bot. Maybe it should be no surprise given that it took home the top prize at the previous year's gaming accolades, but its victory over God of War Ragnarök feels like a true upset. However, to reach the championship, it'll have to go through the MVP of the PlayStation 5 era: the acclaimed developer. Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 enjoyed an easy journey to the semi-finals, defeating Ghost of Yōtei and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart (another Insomniac game!) to secure a spot in the final four. Can Spidey topple a beloved PlayStation icon, or is he destined to become a miniature appearance in the next Astro Bot game?

Xbox Series X Contenders

The Xbox Series X side has been more exciting. Coming out on top from a more eclectic field of contenders is Forza Horizon 5. It's a significant win for the open-world driving game so far, demonstrating that a niche category title earns to be on the same pedestal as traditional jump-and-run games and story-driven epics. Its final obstacle on the way to the championship is a major challenge, though. Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has shown itself as a fan favorite, defeating acclaimed titles like Pentiment and Hi-Fi Rush. Will it overcome a larger-scale title from an well-known franchise that's closely tied to Xbox itself? If anyone can pull that off, it's probably Indy.
