A national judicial panel has indicted the New York attorney general for financial misconduct on Thursday, according to someone with knowledge of the case.

The US attorney for the eastern district of Virginia handled the presentation of the case before the judicial panel this Thursday, as reported.

US attorneys do not typically appear before a grand jury.

Halligan was appointed the position last month following the president expressed dissatisfaction with the pace in ongoing probes against his rivals.

This step marks a recent strategy to weaponize the DOJ to penalize opponents.

This occurs two weeks after charges were filed targeting the former FBI director.

Long-serving lawyers wrote a document for that matter explaining the reasons charges were not warranted.

Comey denied the charges this past Wednesday.
